Team Penning Results at Go-Texan

The Junior Go-Texans Team penning team representing Fort Bend - Stafford at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (Rachel Rhodes, Miles Hickman and Kelly Foster)

The ranch was well represented at the Go-Texan team penning held Saturday, 18 Feb,2006. The weather was cold and wet and the cattle totally uncooperative making it an extremely tough competition. The herds all seemed to have stampede on their mind and the most common words out of the announcer's mouth was "No Time! Too many cattle across the line." Jim Howell (one of the trainers located at the ranch) however lead the senior team to fifth place finish with two cows pinned in @ 60 seconds. Of the 72 teams in the senior division only 1 penned three with just 11 teams penning any at all. The junior division proved to be no less of a challenge. Under Jim's tutelage, the junior's plan of attack was sound but the cows hadn't read the script and stampeded on them. Just as a reminder, Team penning practice is held every Monday at 7:30 PM at the ranch.
